The BA (British Airways) – American Express Avios Rewards Scam – BA’s “Great Value – Transparent Prices” seems not to be as transparent as BA would like us to believe – an update.

On 18th May 2013, we highlighted the problems experienced by BA passengers, who wanted to use their Avios points to travel on the “World’s favourite airline” (that’s not how potential Avios passengers describe them).

We have been in contact with BA, who now inform us passengers, who wish to redeem their Avios points against flights, should book 355 days in advance, because “for commercial reasons,” there is limited availability for Avios customers, who are allocated a limited number of seats.

According to BA’s public relations team (who invariably fail to respond to “awkward” questions we put to them) customers, who wish to use Avios points are advised of the above.  Those people who have contacted us have never heard of the policy and the first intimation we had was in a very short reply by BA

BA have promised to complete more research and come back to us (we are not holding our collective breath) but in the meantime we would like to hear your views, particularly if you have tried to book an “Avios flight.”
