Walsall Manor Hospital – an investigation into the dismissal of staff following the death of Carl Cope.
On 23rd June 2012, Carl Cope was admitted to Walsall Manor Hospital with chest pains and despite the severity of his condition and the fact he had been admitted by ambulance, he was told to “take a seat†in the waiting room. Like many A&E patients, Carl sat of the floor.
The receptionist was not advised of Carl’s condition. In the event, Carl left the reception area and went outside, where he collapsed and died.Â
We are told by a whistle blower the investigation into Carl’s death was far from impartial and was little more than a whitewash. To save face, members of staff and paramedics have been dismissed.Â
We are told a consultant, specialising in A & E emergency care walked passed Carl, whilst he was lying on the floor and failed to raise the alarm or indeed, examine Carl. As we understand the situation, the consultant has not been disciplined and remains employed by the Trust.
