Evidence Gathering – printers, photocopiers and fax machines

If you intend to provide documentary evidence, be aware printers and photostat machines can be linked to a document, which has been copied...

If at all possible, do not use your office fax machine, printer or photocopier. Remember, documents copied on photocopiers or sent via a facsimile machine will always contain enough forensic evidence to identify the machine used to copy or transmit the document.

If you intend to copy a document, which may be traced back to you, be wary of how you obtain it – generally speaking, a document in open circulation cannot be traced back to a “whistle blower”.

Do not keep "spare" documents or photographs. If you pass documents on to us we will "clean" them of all forensic evidence - no tell tale marks or fingerprints!
