How Safe Are Your Personal Data Files?

With high profile cases of breaches in privacy coming to light, one would hope that companies and government agencies are taking data protection measures seriously. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case. Whistle Blowers was recently contacted by an individual concerned with the storage of personal data files and other sensitive information. According to this person, files are not as safe as we think they are and it is not unusual for files in storage to be accidentally destroyed or to go missing.

Clearly, this is of concern for all members of the public. Do you know where your personal data files are stored? Have any of your files ever gone missing with no explanation? How serious is this problem? If you have any information or have lost personal data files under suspicious circumstances, we would like to hear from you.
