Who Are Harry and Brownie?

One of the Whistle Blowers staff members recently received an old letter that was sent from war-time England to Canada in 1940. It is a remarkable letter that illustrates what daily life was like for average British citizens and shows how resilient and strong the British were under such stressful conditions. It is also a letter of hope for a better future, a better England. The woman who wrote the letter had a gift with words and the ability to write. Unfortunately, we do not know who she is. The letter is signed from “Harry and Brownie” and as best as we can guess, they most likely lived in and around the Newcastle area at some point in the 1930’s.

Does anyone know of a couple with these nicknames who may have had connections to Canada (specifically, the Vancouver area?). It’s a shot in the dark, but we think it would be quite the story to reunite living family members with a small piece of history. If you think you might be able to identify who this couple may be, we would love to hear from you.
