British Forces serving in Afghanistan

A recently retired army officer has written to us, at Whistle Blowers, and has asked us to dedicate part of our website “to the men and women of our armed forces with the prime objective to provide a platform for serving and ex-members of the armed forces to enlighten the wider public, without fear or prejudice of issues that adversely affect the nature and structure of their operations” (this is a direct quote from the correspondence we have received).

We have spoken to the correspondent, who has provided us with information about recent deaths involving the use of “snatch” land rovers, the lack of facilities and other serious issues, involving armament, supplies (including drinking water) and directives.  Most importantly, he has alleged misrepresentation by the MOD.

We have learned of the MOD’s cavalier attitude to bereaved families and relatives. In addition we have been told of miserly grants being paid for funeral expenses and widows being threatened with arbitrarily eviction from MOD housing.

If you are a serving member of the armed forces, a spouse, a relative, friend/colleague, or have an issue that needs raising/investigating, we are desperate to help you, particularly if you can add to what we have been told.

Comment: We, at Whistle Blowers Press Agency, were deeply moved by the correspondence sent to us and have agreed to give priority to any Afghanistan issues that come to light – “sustaining the truth and championing the individual” is our “raison d’être”.
